A Proclamation
NEW HAMPSHIRE WATER DAY

MARCH 22, 2006

 
WHEREAS, Water of adequate quality and quantity in New Hampshire is vital to public health, agriculture, economic development, recreation and life; and

WHEREAS, New Hampshire’s plentiful and pristine water is one of the state’s most precious resources; and

WHEREAS, Drinking water is a finite resource that must be carefully managed and protected; and

WHEREAS, the water programs of our state and nation require the awareness and support of the general public to help protect our source waters from pollution; and

WHEREAS, Citizens throughout New Hampshire are already taking the initiative to address pressing water issues, such as groundwater conservation; and

WHEREAS, Celebrating this natural resource further raises citizen awareness of water issues in New Hampshire and throughout the world;

NOW, THEREFORE, I JOHN LYNCH, GOVERNOR of the State of New Hampshire, do hereby proclaim MARCH 22, 2006 as WATER DAY in New Hampshire, and urge all citizens to join me in recognizing the importance of water in our everyday existence and in committing ourselves to protecting this natural resource for the future.
