Is the fix in for '08? And what can we do about it? Find out when Greg
Palast, "America's best investigative journalist" and author of Armed
Madhouse and The Best Democracy Money Can Buy speaks Thursday,
September 28, 7:30 p.m., at the First Parish Church, 3 Church St.,
Harvard Square, Cambridge.
His talk is a fundraiser for Election Defense Alliance (a project of
the International Humanities Center) and the Alliance for Democracy.
Event co-sponsors include Boston Mobilization, Massachusetts Global
Action and Velvet Revolution.
Greg was
a speaker at the Alliance's 2002 National Convention in Gettysburg,
Pennsylvania, where he described the partisan disenfranchisement of
thousands of mostly black, overwhelmingly Democrat voters on the orders
of Florida's Republican secretary of state Katherine Harris (who
was also Bush's Florida campaign co-chair).
Greg broke that story in the
UK media (the US media were strangely disinterested!). He's written for
the Guardian/Observer and Harper's, and appeared on the BBC, Democracy
Now, and Air America. You can read excerpts from Armed Madhouse.
We're very
honored to be hosting Greg in the Boston area, and hope you'll be there
to be amused, outraged and inspired by his talk. For an update on Greg check out his blog.

planet take away what little we have.
This week, Dupont, the chemical giant, slashed employee pension benefits by two-thirds. [More...]
